Ogrady Solutions Advocacy

Advocacy

At O’Grady Solutions, we’re passionate about advocacy work, and committed to partnering with you to develop transformative advocacy campaigns. More and more, non- profits leaders understand that advocacy is a path to mission fulfillment.  Whether you want to gather some speakers to address your local school board on a youth programming, urge your City Council to provide increased funding for family services, or creating a letter writing/email campaign, O’Grady Solutions can partner with you to achieve your goals.  We have years of experience working at the local, state and federal level.  We can help you transform the way people see your people.  We’ll work with you to tell your story in a way that effectively advances your agenda.

Our work is focused in three different areas of advocacy: Advocacy campaign planning and execution; seminars for staff, supporters and board members examining the different types of advocacy and how to deploy different advocacy strategies.  Finally, we can help you understand the difference between advocacy and lobbying, and which one makes sense for you.

Campaigns

Whether you are hoping to launch a single issue campaign to increase the amount of wetlands in your coastal region, or you are looking at a multi-pronged campaign to stamp youth hunger, you’re going to need a carefully constructed, planned and executed campaign.  You’ll have to consider who you should talk to, who your collaborators and allies are, and who might oppose you.  O’Grady Solutions can manage your campaign for you or guide you staff and board through the advocacy campaign process.

Seminars

O’Grady Solutions offer a range of seminars to give you the skills needed to run a single or multi-issue campaign or to put together the beginnings of an advocacy agenda. We also offer seminars on advocacy methods, types of advocacy, strategy and tactics, recruiting collaborators.  O’Grady Solutions will also design a seminar to meet your most pressing needs.

Advocacy v Lobbying

Running afoul of the IRS can be a daunting situation to be in.  If you need some guidance on your lobbying/advocacy balance, on what has to be reported and to whom, an O’Grady Solutions consultant can help you avoid the potential pitfalls you may encounter.   The quick answer on advocacy is you can do as much as you like as long as it isn’t lobbying.  Remember, lobbying is always advocacy, but advocacy isn’t always lobbying.
